Glossary

This page collects the words you will meet in the cenaly.com admin panel and in this help centre. The format is always the same: the term, one or two sentences, and a link to the article that covers it in full.

How to read this glossary#

Two things are worth knowing up front, otherwise some entries will look contradictory.

Words depend on the business type. The same entity is a "dish" for a restaurant, a "product" for a shop, a "service" for a salon or a service company and a "parcel" for a pickup point; a "guest" becomes a "customer" in a shop, a "client" in a salon and a "recipient" at a pickup point. The panel substitutes the right word on its own, and this glossary gives the neutral meaning.

Some terms are Russia-only. KKT, the fiscal memory unit, OFD, EGAIS and Chestny ZNAK marking are flagged "Russia": these entities do not exist in other countries, while on cenaly.ru they are the backbone of till work.

A–B#

Add-on (extension) — a feature or an integration switched on in the app store. Some add-ons are included in the plan, others are paid extras. → App store

Agent prompter — hints from your knowledge base that an employee sees during a live call; they can switch the knowledge build without leaving the conversation. → Knowledge base

Aggregator — an external delivery platform (Wolt, Glovo, Yandex Eda) whose orders arrive in the panel alongside your own. → Integrations

AI credits (LLM credits) — the remaining balance for AI tasks on the account; shown in the subscription next to the plan. → Subscription

AI secretary — the voice robot of your own PBX: it answers the call, replies from the knowledge base and hands the conversation over to a human. → Telephony

App store — the catalogue of the panel's add-ons and integrations: a section is switched on with a toggle there, and an integration is configured in a window over the catalogue. → App store

Barcode scanner — almost always works as a keyboard: it "types" the code it reads wherever the cursor is, so no driver is needed. → Hardware

Booking — a request for a specific time: a table in a restaurant or a room in a hotel. It lives on the floor panel and, for a hotel, on the booking calendar as well. → Table reservations

Booking calendar (21-day view) — the hotel's forward view: bars of bookings and current stays across rooms, so you can see what is free and when the next guest arrives. → Hotel

Bridge (Cenaly Hardware Bridge) — a free program on the till computer through which the browser talks to hardware: printers, scales, the fiscal register, the card terminal. Without it the till works, just without paper. → Cenaly Hardware Bridge

Business type — the choice made at sign-up that tunes the system to your format: which sections are on, which service mode the till uses, and what everything is called. It can be changed at any time. → First day

C–D#

Callback — a site widget: the guest leaves a number and the platform calls back on its own, with retries on your schedule. → Callback

Cash drawer — connects by cable to the receipt printer, not to the computer, and is opened by the printer's pulse on a command from the till. → Hardware

Cash shift — the till's working period from opening to the Z report: sales, cash-in and cash-out land in it, and the discrepancy is calculated at closing. → Cash shift

Catalogue — the section holding what you sell. A restaurant calls it "Menu", a shop "Catalogue", salons and service companies "Services", a blog "Articles". → QR menu

Catalogue import — filling a menu or a catalogue from a ready-made list: a price list in Excel, Word, PDF or a photo, or a link to a site — the AI recognises the items and the prices and shows a plan of changes for review; for CSV there is a fast route without the AI. → AI catalog import

Collection — a storefront group of products, assembled by hand or by a rule; in the online shop it is a page of its own with its own address. → Collections

Combo — a set built from several items ("build your lunch") with a choice inside; stock deduction expands the recipe of every item in the set. → QR menu

Counterparty — a company or a private person in the CRM with whom you keep documents, contracts and settlements. Not the same as a guest: a counterparty is a party to a deal. → Clients (CRM)

Courier — an employee of your own delivery with their own screen and mobile app; not to be confused with an aggregator's courier. → Own delivery

Customer, guest, client, recipient — one and the same entity in the contacts directory; the word is substituted according to the business type. → Customers

Customer display — a second screen showing the guest the total and the items: a browser page on the till's second monitor, or an app on a tablet in the same network. → Hardware

Delivery zone — an area on the map with its own delivery fee, minimum order and delivery time. → Commerce

Deposit — a prepayment for an online booking that holds the slot. Cancel in time and it is refunded; cancel late or fail to show up and it is kept. Moving the appointment does not reset it. → Appointments

Device login code — a short code that connects a tablet, a kitchen screen or a monitor to the right location without a login and a password. → QR codes and device codes

Digital worker — a virtual employee that performs repetitive web routine in the owner's own browser — there, where somebody else's system has no API. Skills are installed for a specific person. → App store
