Video Bubble

Video Bubble is a round floating widget with a clip in the bottom corner of your site. At first the guest sees a poster or a silent preview; on tap a window opens with the clip with sound, a caption and an action button: “Order”, “Book a table”, “Book an appointment”, “Ask in chat” and others.

The main difference from familiar video widgets is that the clip here is not a separate file. It is the video of an item in your menu or catalogue that already sits in its card: uploaded by you or generated by AI from a dish photo. The widget has no second video storage, and the “Order” button opens, in the ordering widget, exactly the dish the guest has just watched.

The widget is free: no separate add-on to buy.

Where to turn it on: Admin panel → Marketing → “My Website” → the “Video bubble” card. The toggle turns the widget on, the gear icon opens the settings.

Installing it on your site#

No code of your own is needed — the shared tag from the “My Website” section does the job:

<script src="https://cdn.cenaly.com/site/v1.js" data-domain="YOUR-DOMAIN" async></script>

One line in <head> or right before </body>, and from there the set of active widgets is controlled by toggles in the admin panel. Platform instructions (HTML, Google Tag Manager, WordPress, Tilda/Wix, Shopify, Webflow) are in the My Website article, in the “Installing on popular platforms” section.

The bubble's standalone tag lives in the “Advanced” block:

<script src="https://cdn.cenaly.com/video-widget/v1.js" data-domain="YOUR-DOMAIN" async></script>

Its attributes:

Attribute What it sets
data-domain Your domain in “My Website” — required
data-brand The platform brand, if the tag is not on its domain
data-lang Language of the built-in labels; without it — the page language (<html lang>), then the browser language
data-position Corner: bl — bottom left, br — bottom right
data-color Ring and button colour, #rrggbb
data-size Bubble diameter in pixels, from 64 to 160

⚠️ An attribute on the tag overrides the admin setting — the other way round from the other widgets. The bubble often goes onto a page whose corner is already taken by someone else's layout, and whoever edits that page should be able to move it without opening the admin panel.

What the installation check sees, and what it doesn't. The “Check installation” button reads the page's source HTML: it finds the shared loader or the bubble's standalone tag, another location's code, or no code at all. It won't see a tag that's inserted in the browser by Google Tag Manager — check the site with your own eyes.

Where the clips come from#

A bubble clip is the video of a menu or catalogue item. There is no separate “upload a clip for the widget”, and that is deliberate: the same video works in the dish card on the storefront and in the bubble on your site.

To give an item a video:

  1. Open the item in the Menu section (or in the product catalogue) and upload a video to its media.
  2. Or generate a clip with AI from a dish photo right in the card. Generation is a dish-card feature with its own terms; the bubble does not pay for it. ⚠️ Brands in the Yandex cloud (cenaly.ru) have no video generation — there the clip is uploaded ready-made.
  3. Wait until the video is processed: the platform makes a poster and, where this is set up, quality versions from 360p to 1080p.

If no item has a video, the bubble panel says so and offers a way to the menu — there is no made-up preview without a clip.

⚠️ The file format matters. Browsers reliably play mp4, webm and m4v. A clip in another format (for example, an iPhone .mov, .avi, .mkv) is shown by the bubble only if quality versions are ready for it; otherwise it does not make it into the bubble at all — a bubble that opens to “video is unavailable” is worse than no bubble.

Configuring the widget#

Settings save themselves. Next to the fields is a preview: the bubble with the poster of the first selected clip and the open window with the caption and button — in the same words the guest will see.

Clips#

  • Selection — a list of the selected location's items that have a video. Tick up to 6 clips and put them in order: the guest flips through them with arrows in this order.
  • Caption — a short clip text (up to 80 characters) in the languages you need: under the bubble and in the open window.
  • Action button — what to do after watching (see the table below). By default — “Order” with this same dish.
  • Button caption — your own, up to 40 characters in each language; empty — the standard caption for the action type.

The bubble settings store a link to the item's video and the clip data at the moment of selection (format, ready quality versions, poster, duration), not a copy of the file.

The button under the clip#

Action What happens Default caption
Order The ordering widget opens — straight on this dish “Order”
Book a table The table booking form opens “Book a table”
Appointment Online appointments open, optionally straight on the right service “Book an appointment”
Chat The chat opens “Ask in chat”
Callback The callback form opens “Request a call”
Multi-button The multi-button unfolds with its contact channels “Contact us”
Help The help centre opens “Help”
Document The selected legal document opens — a document is required “Open the document”
Support The “Requests” tab of the chat opens — a new request form “Contact support”
Link Your http(s)://… address opens in a new tab “Learn more”

⚠️ The button works through a neighbouring widget. If the widget it leads to is switched off for you (or it is a paid extension without a subscription), there will be no button on the site — the guest just watches the clip. The panel flags such actions in advance, and the bubble statistics show this as a separate reason.

The standard button captions and the bubble's built-in labels come in four languages — English, Russian, Georgian and Turkish; in other page languages they are in English. Your own captions can be set in any language.

Appearance#

Setting Values Default
Corner Bottom left · bottom right Bottom left (the right corner usually already has someone's button)
Size Diameter 64…160 px 96 px
Colour Bubble ring and action button Blue
Silent preview On · off On
Don't show after closing 0…90 days 7 days

“Don't show after closing” is how many days the bubble stays silent after the guest closes it with the cross. 0 — only until the end of the visit (the browser session).

When to show#

This block is shared with the multibutton, callback and Live Showcase: page masks “only on…” and “except…” (up to 20 in each list, * = any fragment, exceptions override), a delay of up to 600 seconds, device (all · desktop · mobile), and a schedule — up to 14 custom windows or the location's opening hours.

⚠️ Hours are counted in the location's time zone; if the zone is not set, windows are counted by the visitor's time.

When the bubble plays the clip on its own#

This is the widget's main rule — the speed contract: until the bubble decides to show a preview, the page has no video element pointing to the clip and makes no request for its file. The guest downloads a poster, not the video.

The silent preview (muted, looped) starts only when all conditions are met:

  1. the preview is not switched off in the settings;
  2. the page has finished loading — the clip doesn't take bandwidth from your content;
  3. the bubble is in the visible part of the screen;
  4. the guest has not turned on reduced motion (prefers-reduced-motion);
  5. the guest has not turned on data saving (Save-Data).

Otherwise the bubble shows the clip's poster. No poster (the platform has not made one yet, or video processing is not set up) — the bubble shows the first frame: that costs more than a poster, so only under conditions 1, 2 and 5. Preview off and no poster — a dark circle with a ring and ▶.

Quality for the screen. If 360p to 1080p versions are ready for the clip, the widget picks the right one: a light one in the bubble, one matching its width in the open window. No versions — the original file plays.

Sound only after the guest taps. Browsers do not allow sound without a gesture, and we don't work around that.

Widget weight — about 20 KB gzipped (the tag has async). Clip files are not part of this weight.

What the visitor sees, and what gets collected#

The guest sees the bubble in the chosen corner — with a poster or a silent preview, the clip's duration and a caption below it. On tap (or Enter / Space from the keyboard) a window opens:

  • the clip with sound and a “mute” button;
  • ‹ › arrows between clips, if there are several;
  • the caption and the action button;
  • close — with the cross, the Esc key or a tap outside the window; focus returns to the bubble.

When the action button is tapped, the bubble's window closes and the neighbouring widget opens — two windows on top of someone else's page would be a dead end. The small cross on the bubble itself hides it for the set number of days.

If the same corner already has our button (multi-button, callback, ordering, booking, appointments, chat), the bubble rises above it, and the Live Showcase badges rise above the bubble. The multi-button does not absorb the bubble: it is not a contact channel.

The widget collects no personal data. It has no forms or fields. An order, booking or appointment made via the button lands in the same sections as from the widgets themselves — for example, in Orders. The bubble itself sends only anonymous statistics: an impression, an open, a view with sound longer than 3 seconds, a button tap by action type (order, booking, chat…) and a close. It contains no names, contacts or clip identifiers. The summary is shown on the widget card in “My Website”.

Limits#

  • One format — a bubble in a bottom corner. No stories, carousel or player embedded in the page.
  • A clip can only be the video of a menu or catalogue item. You cannot upload a “plain clip” separately from a card.
  • YouTube and TikTok links are not supported: a third-party player sets its own cookies (which goes against the consent banner) and is heavier than the speed contract allows.
  • An unplayable clip is not shown: a format the browser cannot play, without ready quality versions, does not make it into the bubble. A bubble without a single playable clip does not appear at all.
  • There is no bubble on our storefront — the dish video is already in its card there. The bubble works only on your own website.
  • No button without its widget: the action leads into a neighbouring widget, and without it the button is not drawn.
  • No more than 6 clips in one bubble.
  • Built-in labels — four languages (en, ru, ka, tr); other languages get English.
  • No AI clip generation on cenaly.ru — clips are uploaded only.

Troubleshooting#

There is no bubble on the site.

  1. Tag not found — “Check installation”. “No code” — the tag isn't inserted or isn't on every page template; “another location's code” — someone else's data-domain. If GTM inserts the tag, the check won't see it.
  2. The widget is off — the toggle on the “Video bubble” card.
  3. No clip selected — without clips the bubble is not drawn.
  4. No clip is playable — every selected clip is in a format the browser cannot play, and there are no quality versions. Upload an mp4 to the item card or wait for the video to be processed.
  5. The guest closed the bubble with the cross — it stays silent for the set number of days (7 by default). Test in an incognito window or a new browser profile.
  6. Display rules excluded the page — check masks, device, delay and schedule.
  7. Changes haven't arrived yet — settings are served through a CDN with a cache of up to 5 minutes: wait and reload the page.

The bubble is there, but there is no button under the clip. The widget the button leads to is switched off on the site (or not paid for, if it is an extension) — turn it on in “My Website”. The “Document” action needs a selected document, and “Link” needs an http(s):// address.

The bubble doesn't play the preview, only the poster. That is by design if the preview is off, the page is still loading, the bubble is off screen, or the guest has reduced motion or data saving on. Check on another device.

The window says “Video is unavailable”. The clip file did not load: the video was deleted or replaced in the item card. Open the bubble settings and select the clip again.

You replaced the video in the card, but the bubble shows the old one. The bubble stores a link to a specific item video and its data at the moment of selection. Select the clip again — the same if you selected it while the video was still being processed.

“Order” opens the wrong dish. By default the “Order” button leads to the item whose video it is; if you changed the action by hand, check the selected item in the button settings.

FAQ#

Will the bubble slow my site down?#

The widget weighs about 20 KB gzipped and loads with async. Clip files are not downloaded until the widget decides to show a preview — and the preview starts only after the page has loaded and only in the visible part of the screen.

Can I upload a clip straight into the widget?#

No. A clip is the video of a menu or catalogue item: upload it to the item card or generate it from a dish photo (except on cenaly.ru), then select it in the bubble.

What happens to the clips if I switch the bubble off or leave the platform?#

The clips don't disappear with the widget: they are files of your menu items, and the bubble stores only links to them. Switch the widget off and the videos stay in the dish cards. The bubble has no storage of its own, so there is nothing to move out of it.

Can I embed a YouTube or TikTok video?#

No. A third-party player sets cookies and is heavier than the bubble's speed contract allows.

Does the sound turn on by itself?#

No. The preview in the bubble is always muted, and the clip plays with sound only after the guest taps.

How many clips can I show?#

Up to six in one bubble. The guest flips through them with arrows; each has its own caption and its own button.

Will the bubble appear on the Cenaly storefront?#

No. On the storefront the dish video is already in its card, so the bubble works only on your own website.

What goes into the statistics?#

Bubble impressions, opens, views with sound longer than 3 seconds, button taps by action type and closes — no personal data and no clip identifiers.
