Argentina: SIP providers and connecting a number to the PBX
We do not issue numbers: the venue buys an Argentine number from a local carrier and brings it into its own PBX as a trunk. The steps that are the same everywhere — trunk modes, form fields, network and the connectivity test — are described in the overview «Connecting a provider's number to the PBX»; this page covers only the Argentine part: where to get a number, what that provider issues and what of it goes into the admin panel.
The data was collected on 9–10 September 2026 from the providers' own documentation and materials from the regulator ENACOM; links are in the «Sources» section.
In brief#
- Almost nobody in the country publishes parameters. Of the fourteen providers reviewed, two publish a ready-made guide for connecting a third-party PBX — Anura and IPLAN. With the rest, including Metrotel, Telecentro, Telecom/Personal, Movistar and Claro, the server address and the mode arrive by email after the contract is signed. That is the state of the market, not a gap in this guide.
- The fastest route is Anura in registration mode:
iptrunk.grancentral.com.ar, port 55090 (not 5060!), a login and password, theG.711 a-lawcodec and ten simultaneous calls in the base package. All six fields of the form are filled in from the carrier's email. - If the venue already has IPLAN, take «VoIP Extendida» and IP authentication: all SIP goes to a single address,
190.210.6.162, and is accepted only from the static public address you declared. A dynamic address does not work there at all, so a dedicated PBX is required — it does have a static address. - The contract goes to an Argentine legal entity with a CUIT. That is true of every local provider. A foreign company will get connected faster with an international number (Twilio, Telnyx, DIDWW), but emergency calls do not work through one.
- Ask about codecs before you sign: IPLAN and netelip both list
G.729, while the PBX speaks G.711 and G.722. If the carrier leaves onlyG.729, the call will come up without a common codec — silence. - The inbound number format differs by provider: Anura sends ten digits without the leading zero, IPLAN sends eleven characters with it. That does not affect finding the line (the last seven digits are compared), but write the routing rule after the first real call.
Numbers in the country#
The country code is +54. A national number is always ten digits: the area indicative (2–4 digits) plus the subscriber number (6–8 digits). Inside the country the trunk prefix 0 is mandatory even for a «local» call placed through a trunk; an international call out is 00 plus the country code. In «Lines» the number can be entered in any format: the PBX compares the last seven digits.
- Indicatives:
11— AMBA (Buenos Aires and its suburbs, an eight-digit subscriber part),221La Plata,223Mar del Plata,261Mendoza,291Bahía Blanca,294Bariloche,299Neuquén,341Rosario,351Córdoba,379Corrientes,381Tucumán,387Salta. - Mobile numbers are dialled differently from landlines: inside the country it is
0+ indicative +15+ subscriber, while from abroad the same number looks like+549+ indicative + subscriber, without the15. - Non-geographic ranges:
0800— free for the caller,0810— charged at the local rate,0600/0605/0609/0610— premium rate. - Emergency numbers are the three-digit
1xx(100fire,101police,107ambulance) and911in most provinces. At IPLAN an emergency number is dialled like an ordinary local one:0+ indicative +1xx(the example in their guide is011101). - The numbering plan is being reformed. ENACOM resolution 1369/2023 merged the local areas (2901 before, 300 now) and instructed the regulator to prepare a new national numbering plan; industry publications link it to dropping the
15and9prefixes. No new plan had been published as of September 2026 — the previous format is in force. - How the number arrives in an inbound call:
| What arrives in the call | Provider | What it means for «Lines» |
|---|---|---|
Ten digits, national format without the leading zero (1152630861) |
Anura — the number goes straight into the registration string | the line is found: only the ending is compared |
Eleven characters, 0 + indicative + subscriber |
IPLAN — «llamadas entrantes … en formato 0 + [Código de Área] + Abonado» | the line is found just the same, the leading zero does not matter |
E.164 without the «+» (54…) |
netelip | the same |
| The format is set at provisioning | Metrotel, Telecentro, Telintec, Iptel, Call IP, Metroglobal, Convergia | ask the account manager — the question is in the «What to ask the provider» list |
⚠️ Seven digits versus eight in Buenos Aires. In area 11 the subscriber part has eight digits while the last seven are compared: two numbers from the same series that differ only in the first digit of the subscriber part (4321-0000 and 5321-0000) will collapse into one line. That does not affect receiving a call, but the «this number → its own routing» scenario will not separate such numbers — check the endings when ordering a second number.

The first three rows are the providers with a «What to enter in the admin panel» table below. The rest disclose their parameters after the contract: you cannot pre-configure the trunk from this page, but the collapsed block below says exactly what to ask for.
Anura#
An Argentine IP telephony carrier running its own platform, grancentral.com.ar. Besides a cloud PBX and a contact centre it sells Troncal IP — a trunk out for a third-party PBX (its compatibility list includes Asterisk, Issabel, FreePBX, Panasonic, Avaya, Yeastar and Grandstream). The base package is ten simultaneous calls and can be extended; it has its own numbering in 011, 0221, 0223, 0230, 0261, 0264, 0291, 0294, 0299, 0341, 0351, 0379, 0381, 0387 and others, and it ports an existing number, including 0800 and 0810, free of charge and on its own. This is the only local provider where «take the guide, set up the trunk» works without an account manager.
What to enter in the admin panel (Telephony → «Trunks and connections» → «Add provider» → the «SIP trunk (custom provider)» card):
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| SIP host | iptrunk.grancentral.com.ar |
| Port | 55090 — not 5060, that is the address of their border server |
| Transport | UDP — the only one named in the guide |
| Registration | ✅ REGISTER, with a login and password |
| Login | the usuario from Anura's email (99905 in their example) |
| Password | the secret from the same email |
What to set up at the provider: order Troncal IP and the number of channels → obtain the login, the password, the account domain in the form <DOMINIO>.grancentral.com.ar and the list of numbers → ask them to route the numbers to the trunk → confirm that G.711 a-law is in the codec set: it is the only codec in their guide, while the product page also mentions G.729, which the PBX does not have.
Pitfalls ⚠️ Port 55090 is the most common reason for «the trunk will not register»: with the default value it simply will not come up. Second: on outbound calls Anura expects the account domain <DOMINIO>.grancentral.com.ar in the From field, while the PBX puts the trunk's SIP host there and the form has no separate «domain» field — ask Anura to accept From with the domain iptrunk.grancentral.com.ar, or check with them whether your account domain name resolves to the same server (then you can put it straight into the «SIP host» field). Third: Anura's calls arrive from four different networks (179.0.14.0/24, 200.13.42.0/24, 200.13.43.0/24, 200.33.82.0/24) — that does not matter in registration mode, but you will not be able to move them to IP authentication: a trunk recognises its provider by a single address. The inbound number arrives as ten digits without a leading zero. Their guides are written for the older Asterisk module: the values carry over, the syntax does not.

IPLAN#
A large Argentine corporate provider (NSS S.A., Buenos Aires). The services are called VoIP IPLAN and VoIP IPLAN Extendida and are described explicitly as a trunk for a «Central Telefónica IP (PBX-IP), como por ejemplo, un Asterisk»: the first runs over IPLAN's own access line, the second over any internet connection but strictly with a static address. The numbering comes from IPLAN's own resource and the contract goes to a legal entity with a CUIT. For us this is the most «correct» option: authentication by address is exactly what the no-registration mode was built for.
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| SIP host | 190.210.6.162 — IPLAN's single address for all SIP traffic in both directions |
| Port | 5060 — their document does not name a port, this is the standard value; confirm it at provisioning |
| Transport | UDP |
| Registration | ⬜ No, IP authentication — the service has no login or password at all |
| Login | not used |
| Password | not used |
What to set up at the provider: give IPLAN the public static address of your dedicated PBX — it is on the «Server» tab, the «Static IP» field → agree the group of numbers you are allowed to call from → ask them to keep G.711 a-law/u-law in the codec set → check that the inbound route points at your address.
Pitfalls ⚠️ «No es posible utilizar el servicio con Dirección IP Dinámica» — a dynamic address will not be accepted, so any server without a static address is out from the start. Traffic is accepted only from the declared address and only towards 190.210.6.162: «se rechazará cualquier otro tráfico dirigido hacia otra IP», so if the dedicated machine is recreated the trunk dies silently until the provider updates the record. The number you present on outbound calls must belong to the group IPLAN issued — anything else is silently replaced with the contract's head number, so fill the «Show as» field with your own numbers only. Their codec list includes G.729, which we do not have — ask them not to «downgrade» the codec. Fax is not passed through in G.711, only T.38.

netelip#
A Spanish carrier with a localised Argentine site and a local support number, (11) 52194179. It sells SIP Trunking («enlaza tu centralita IP», 30 inbound and 30 outbound simultaneous channels, no setup fee) and phone numbers in Argentina and twelve more countries. Its advantage is that provisioning goes through an online account rather than a contract with a local entity; the platform parameters are documented in its own knowledge base.
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| SIP host | sip-am.netelip.com — the platform's Latin American node (the European one is sip-eu.netelip.com) |
| Port | 5060 |
| Transport | UDP |
| Registration | ✅ REGISTER for the «Línea SIP» product; the «SIP Trunking» product has no registration — it authenticates by IP |
| Login | the account from the «Configurador de Dispositivos» section of the online account |
| Password | the password from the same place (not used with IP authentication) |
What to set up at the provider: choose the product — «Línea SIP» with registration is simpler, «SIP Trunking» requires handing over the PBX's static address → order the Argentine number and confirm at ordering that it terminates on the Latin American node (per their knowledge base as of 09.09.2026 it does) → demand G711a/G711u in the plan: the platform offers G.729 by default → set the «Identificador de llamada», otherwise outbound calls go out hidden.
Pitfalls ⚠️ The default codec is G.729, and without asking explicitly you will get silence in both directions. Outbound calls go out with no number («oculto») until a caller identifier is set in the online account. The inbound number arrives in E.164 without the «+». Treat emergency calls through a carrier from another country as unavailable.

Providers whose parameters come with the contract#
Metrotel, Telecentro, Telintec, Iptel, Call IP, Metroglobal, Convergia, Telecom/Personal, Movistar, Claro
These providers do have (or advertise) a trunk for your own PBX, but the server address, port, authentication mode and credentials arrive by email after the contract. The minimum to obtain from the account manager is in «What to ask the provider»: server address, port, transport, authentication mode, codecs and the inbound number format. Ask specifically for a «troncal SIP para central propia» — not the carrier's cloud PBX: that one has no trunk out.
- Metrotel. A carrier with its own fibre (CABA, Greater Buenos Aires, Mendoza, Córdoba, Rosario, Neuquén). Its «Troncal IP (SIP Trunk)» is described as connecting the venue's private PBX to their switch over the internet, with packages from 5 to 400 channels and numbers supplied by Metrotel. Of the large carriers this is the most likely candidate — only the published parameters are missing.
- Telecentro Empresas. A cable operator in CABA and its suburbs; its business section states plainly that all of its telephony runs over VoIP and offers a «Troncal SIP» for calls in and out. No technical parameters are published.
- Telintec. An ITSP and integrator (Buenos Aires, Mendoza, Córdoba) and a partner of Sangoma/FreePBX and Yeastar — a third-party PBX is a routine scenario for them. The price list is public (September 2026, ARS + VAT): 2 channels — 8,000 per month, 5 — 15,000, 10 — 18,000, 15 — 24,000, 30 — 32,000; every package includes one inbound number and unlimited inbound minutes, outbound is billed after the fact. Numbers and
0800are sold separately. Argentine prices are re-indexed often — check them before signing. - Iptel. A regional carrier (Córdoba, Villa Allende, Buenos Aires, Rosario, Santa Fe, Venado Tuerto, Zárate, Lincoln). Its line-up includes «Troncales IP» for a traditional or in-house PBX, plus
0800/0810and international DIDs. - Call IP. An ITSP with offices in Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Rosario, La Plata, Mendoza, San Luis and Neuquén. It sells «cuentas SIP y troncales SIP» for equipment you already own and promises to supply «los datos necesarios para configurarlos» — that is, a login and password, which means registration mode. A virtual number from any region or country is attached to the account and the number of simultaneous inbound calls is configurable.
- Metroglobal. An Argentine number aggregator operating since 2005: a SIP trunk through «access nodes» and numbering in 50+ countries including Argentina, plus iNum
+883numbers. Useful when the venue needs a number from another country on the same PBX. ⚠️ The provider warns itself that it is not «interconnected VoIP» as the US regulator defines it and must not be used instead of ordinary telephony — emergency calls through such a number are not guaranteed. - Convergia. An international carrier headquartered in Canada with an Argentine arm, certified by the PBX vendor 3CX specifically for Argentina. Two things are known: authentication is by IP only (a static public address is required) and the trunk's main number is entered in the national format (the example on the 3CX card is
96531558). The border server address, port and codecs come with the contract; the carrier's own site does not respond to our client. - Telecom Argentina / Personal Tech, Movistar, Claro. The country's three largest carriers. None of them had a public SIP trunk page as of September 2026: their business sections are built around connectivity, cloud and cybersecurity, and telephony is sold through account managers. Claro and Movistar do have «Troncal SIP» as a showcase product in Peru and Colombia, but we found no Argentine page for the service. Worth asking about; not worth expecting a public guide.
International providers with Argentine numbers#
Argentine numbers are sold by Twilio, Telnyx and DIDWW; the Telnyx and Twilio cards are already in the catalogue when adding a provider — the server address and mode are filled in automatically. They have no Argentina-specific parameters; the specifics are all in the paperwork.
- Twilio runs the strictest checks of those reviewed. An Argentine number needs an address inside the locality or region of the same indicative (a PO box is not accepted); a company must supply its name and commercial registry number plus proof of address (a statement, a utility bill, a tax notice, a lease or a title document), an individual an Argentine passport, ID card or visa.
- Telnyx is more relaxed about the address. Geographic and shared-cost numbers require a passport or ID card (for an individual) or a certificate of incorporation, plus an address — but the address may be anywhere in the world, Argentine residency is not required. Toll-free numbers only need a name and an address. They also publish a separate guide for porting Argentine numbers.
- DIDWW sells «Argentina +54 Local Phone Numbers» through its panel and API.
- Telxi is 3CX-certified for Argentina and works through a self-service account in registration mode; its trunk's main number is entered in E.164 (
541234567890). Check whether Argentine local numbers are actually available by searching in its account panel. - Emergency calls do not work through an international provider — neither
911nor1xx. For a venue with a dining room that is an argument for a local carrier.
Porting a number#
- Porting works for fixed numbers too — countrywide since 21 October 2022. The procedure is set by resolution 203/2018: a centralised database and the inter-carrier COPON committee.
- Deadlines set by the regulator: the port takes no more than 1 business day (up to 10 in complex cases), the service interruption no more than 3 hours, and a number may be ported again no sooner than 30 days later.
- The request is filed by the receiving carrier on your instruction; nothing needs to be filed with the losing one. A company will need a document confirming the signatory's authority.
- Anura ports numbers free of charge and on its own, including non-geographic
0800and0810— for a venue with a «historic» number that is the shortest path. - ⚠️ A number registered to an individual will need to be re-registered when ported to a company — allow a week, not a day.
- ⚠️ Changing the PBX's public address breaks a trunk that authenticates by IP (IPLAN, Convergia, the by-address mode at netelip): if the dedicated machine is recreated, send the provider the new address in advance.
Rules and paperwork#
Licensing, the contract and CUIT, the «No Llame» registry, call recording, caller ID
- The venue needs no licence. Under law 27.078 «Argentina Digital» a licence (the Licencia Única Argentina Digital plus registration of the service in the RESTIC registry at the regulator ENACOM) is required by whoever sells communications. You are buying them — your provider is the licensed party.
- Numbering is a state resource allocated by ENACOM. The numbering plan in force was approved back in 1997; resolution 1369/2023 cut the number of local areas from 2901 to 300 and ordered a new plan to be drafted within two years. Until it is published the dialling rules stay as they are — with
0,15and9. - The contract goes to an Argentine legal entity with a CUIT. That is a condition at every local provider, carriers and ITSPs alike. A foreign company without a local entity is left with an international number (see the section above) — with the caveat about emergency calls.
- Check outbound marketing campaigns against the «No Llame» registry. Under law 26.951 any subscriber, including a company, may add their number to the national registry, and anyone marketing goods or services by phone must stop calling within 30 days; penalties follow the data protection law 25.326.
- Call recording. There is no separate «telephone» permission — law 25.326 applies: processing is lawful with free, explicit and informed consent that can be withdrawn at any time. The practice is the same as in Europe: warn with a phrase at the start of the call. The recording announcement is switched on in the location settings.
- You may only present your own numbers. We found no separate anti-spoofing order in the country, but carriers block substitution technically: IPLAN states plainly that a number outside the group it issued is replaced with the contract's head number.
- Emergency calls. They work through local carriers (at IPLAN they are dialled like an ordinary local number:
0+ indicative +1xx), but not through international DIDs or aggregators such as Metroglobal. Keep a mobile phone on the shift: a cloud PBX cannot place an emergency call when the internet is down anyway.
If it does not work#
- The Anura trunk will not register. Almost certainly the port: theirs is
55090, not5060. Check the login too — it is issued by email and is not the same as the number. - Anura registers but outbound calls are rejected. The carrier expects your account domain
<DOMINIO>.grancentral.com.arinFrom, while the PBX puts the trunk's SIP host there. Ask Anura to acceptFromwith the domainiptrunk.grancentral.com.ar— or ask them for the name that resolves to the same server and put it in the «SIP host» field. - Silence in both directions with IPLAN, or calls do not arrive at all. Check that the provider has the current static address of the PBX on file (the «Server» tab) and that the trunk is configured without registration: IPLAN accepts traffic only from the declared address and only towards
190.210.6.162. - The call connects but there is no audio. IPLAN and netelip both list
G.729, which the PBX does not understand. Ask them to putG.711 a-lawfirst. - The wrong number is shown on outbound calls. IPLAN silently replaces a foreign ANI with the contract's head number, and at netelip outbound calls go out hidden until a «Identificador de llamada» is set in the online account.
- A call to the second number follows the first number's scenario. The last seven digits matched — with the eight-digit subscriber part of area
11that is common. Pick numbers with different endings when ordering, or handle both with a single routing rule. - It worked and then stopped after the PBX was recreated. IPLAN, Convergia and the by-address mode at netelip authenticate by IP: the new address has to be sent to the provider.
- Fax does not go through IPLAN. Only
T.38is passed; sending a fax insideG.711is not supported there.
Causes that do not depend on the country are in «If calls do not go through»; network and codec requirements are in «Network and compatibility»; the address and port can be checked with the «Test connection» button.
Frequently asked questions#
Which provider should I start with if I do not have a number yet?#
Anura: it is the only Argentine carrier with a public guide for connecting a third-party PBX, the mode is ordinary registration and all six fields of the form come from their email. If the venue already has internet from IPLAN, the second candidate is their «VoIP Extendida» with authentication by address.
Why is Anura's port 55090 and not 5060?#
That is how their border server is set up: both registration and calls go to iptrunk.grancentral.com.ar:55090. With the default value the trunk simply will not come up — this is the most common mistake when connecting to them.
Can an Argentine trunk work without a dedicated PBX?#
No. Provider trunks only work on a dedicated server — it needs the static address that is given to the provider. At IPLAN and Convergia that is the only mode available: they do not accept a dynamic address.
Does the venue need a telecom licence?#
No. The licence and the entry in the ENACOM service registry are needed by whoever sells communications; you are buying them. A contract with an Argentine legal entity holding a CUIT, however, is required by every local provider.
What happens to numbers after the numbering reform?#
The numbers stay. ENACOM resolution 1369/2023 cut the number of local areas and ordered a new national plan to be drafted; the changes are expected in the dialling rules — dropping the 15 and 9 prefixes is under discussion. Routing by the last seven digits will survive that, but the outbound rules will need revisiting. No new plan had been published as of September 2026.
How do I receive calls on an Argentine number if the company is registered outside Argentina?#
Through an international provider — Twilio, Telnyx or DIDWW. Telnyx accepts an address anywhere in the world, Twilio only one inside the number's indicative area, so in practice there is usually one option. Note that emergency calls do not work through an international number.
