Chile: SIP providers and connecting a number to the PBX
We do not issue numbers: the venue buys a Chilean number from a local carrier and brings it into its own PBX as a trunk. Everything that is the same in any country — trunk modes, form fields, network and the connectivity test — is described in the overview «Connecting a provider's number to the PBX». This page covers the Chilean part only: where to get the number, what exactly to enter in the admin panel and what people trip over in this country.
The data was collected on 9–10 September 2026 from the providers' own documentation and materials from the regulator SUBTEL; links are in the «Sources» section.
In brief#
- The Chilean market is closed as far as documentation goes. Not a single local carrier — neither Entel, Movistar, ClaroVTR nor Gtd, nor ITSPs such as Netvoiss, Central IP or FonoIP — publishes its server address, port or authentication mode: the parameters arrive by e-mail once the contract is signed. Plan the connection as a conversation with the carrier, not as «copy from the manual and type it in».
- The most predictable route is Entel and its «Trunk IP» service: port
5060, registration disabled (IP authentication), the border server address issued by the carrier, andG.711 a-lawavailable in its codec list. What it needs from you is a static public address — the dedicated PBX has one. - The quickest start without corporate sales is Netvoiss: the public «SIP TRUNK IP EMPRESAS» plan gives 5 simultaneous channels, 1 number and 300 minutes for 16,990 CLP a month, with codecs listed as
G729andG711a. The catch is a 12-month contract. - Ask about codecs before you sign. In Chile almost everyone puts
G.729first, and Call IP builds its whole trunk on it — with that provider the trunk will not work at all: the PBX speaks G.711 and G.722. Ask forG.711 a-lawas a separate line in your request. - The main local specific is not the parameters but the outgoing number. Commercial and mass calls must originate from a number in the 600 or 809 series, with fines from 5 to 5,000 UTM. An ordinary call to a guest from a restaurant is not covered; a mass campaign is.
- International calls are dialled through a carrier code (
1YZ0+ number) rather than00: the outbound rule for a Chilean location has to be written around the contract of a particular carrier. - The contract goes to a Chilean company with a RUT. That is true of every local provider. A foreign company will get a number faster from netelip, Telnyx or DIDWW — with the caveat that emergency calls do not work through such a number.
Numbers in the country#
- The country code is +56. A national number is always 9 digits, and since 2016 every domestic call is dialled the same way — those same nine digits with no prefixes.
- The first digit tells you the type:
2— fixed lines in Santiago (2 XXXX XXXX),32–35,41–45,51–58,61–67,71–75— regional fixed lines,9— mobile (9 XXXX XXXX),600and800— service and toll-free,809— unsolicited commercial calls,702— calls from government bodies (introduced from March 2027). - Portability broke the link between prefix and carrier: a number starting with
9is no longer necessarily mobile, and a2number is not necessarily still with its original carrier. - Dialling out of Chile: domestic calls go as they are, nine digits, while an international call goes through the multiportador:
1YZ0+ country code + number, where1YZis the carrier code (123— Entel,171— Claro,122— Gtd,112— Convergia). - Emergency services use three digits:
131ambulance,132fire brigade,133police,130forest fires,134PDI.
The form in which the number arrives in a call differs from provider to provider; this is what you will enter on the «Lines» tab:
| What arrives in the call | Provider | What it means for «Lines» |
|---|---|---|
| 3, 4 or 9 digits — the carrier chooses when setting up the DDI table | Entel | with 9 digits the line is matched as usual; with 3–4 digits an extension arrives instead of the number — see the warning below |
E.164 without «+» (56…) |
netelip, Telxi | the line is matched: only the ending of the number is compared |
| National format, 9 digits | Convergia | the same |
| The format is agreed at connection time | Movistar, ClaroVTR, Gtd, Netvoiss, Central IP, Call IP, FonoIP, net2phone | ask the account manager — the question is in the «What to ask the provider» list |
⚠️ Two Chilean subtleties about matching lines. First: the PBX compares the last seven digits, while the subscriber part of a Chilean number is eight, so two numbers from the same range differing only in the first subscriber digit will merge into one line — when ordering, pick numbers with different endings. Second: if the carrier sets the DDI to 3–4 digits, an internal extension arrives in the call and telling numbers apart by line becomes impossible altogether — the call is still accepted and goes into routing as «a call from this provider».
Who issues a number with a SIP trunk#
| Provider | Which numbers | Trunk for your own PBX | Mode | How to connect |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Entel | fixed and mobile nationwide | yes, «Trunk IP» / SIP Trunk | by IP | corporate account manager, link survey |
| Movistar (Telefónica Chile) | nationwide | yes, «Central telefónica IP con SIPTrunk» | issued at connection time | account manager; a fixed IP is sold as a separate option |
| ClaroVTR Empresas | nationwide | no public trunk page in Chile; the service is sold through a manager | issued at connection time | corporate account manager |
| Gtd (Telsur, Manquehue) | its own and ported numbers | yes, «Troncal SIP por Internet», explicitly as BYOC | «con Registro» — by digital certificate, «Estática» — by address | request on the website |
| Netvoiss | local, 600, 800, short 4-digit |
yes, «SIP TRUNK IP», up to 300 channels | issued at connection time | public price list, 12-month contract |
| Central IP / Alodesk | local and foreign | yes, «Línea Troncal SIP» | issued at connection time | request |
| Call IP | local and foreign | yes, but the trunk is built on G.729 — will not work |

| Twilio · Telnyx · DIDWW | +56 local numbers |
yes | registration or by IP | online, see «International providers» |
Entel#
Chile's largest corporate carrier. The service is called Trunk IP (SIP Trunk in the corporate segment): the customer's PBX connects to Entel's network, with direct dial-in (SDA) and a «número cabecera» — the head number of the group — supported. The adjacent «Telefonía IP con Internet» plan offers up to 200 simultaneous lines and 500 extensions. Entel has no public page with SIP parameters, but its trunk parameters are documented in a connection manual for Panasonic PBXs, and they add up to a clear picture.
What to enter in the admin panel (Telephony → «Trunks and connections» → «Add provider» → the «SIP trunk (custom provider)» card):
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| SIP host | the IP of Entel's border server — issued by the carrier at connection time; Entel has no public address |
| Port | 5060 — marked «no cambia» in the manual |
| Transport | UDP — the carrier names no other; confirm at connection time |
| Registration | ⬜ No, IP authentication — registration is disabled in the trunk settings (REGISTER ability: disable) |
| Login | not used |
| Password | not used |
What to set up with the provider: give Entel the public static address of your dedicated PBX (the «Server» tab, the «Static IP» field) for the allow-list → ask it to keep G.711 a-law in the agreed codec list, not just G.729a → clarify the DDI format (3, 4 or 9 digits) and the head number that will be used as caller ID → agree the carrier code for international outbound calls (123 for Entel).
Pitfalls ⚠️ Entel's codec order in the example is G.729a first and G.711a second: if only the first survives the negotiation, the call will be set up without a common codec and there will be silence. Second: a DDI of 3–4 digits makes matching a line by number pointless (see «Numbers in the country»). Third: Entel sells the trunk as part of a corporate package with its own equipment — state in your request that you are connecting your own PBX.

netelip#
A Spanish carrier with a localised Chilean site. It sells «Línea SIP» (a replacement for an analogue line), «SIP Trunking» («línea telefónica VoIP para centralitas IP») and virtual numbers for Chile and 58 other countries with no minimum term. It is the only provider of Chilean numbers whose server address is known in advance and whose order goes through the customer account entirely, without corporate sales.
What to enter in the admin panel:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| SIP host | sip-am.netelip.com — the platform's Latin American node (the European one is sip-eu.netelip.com) |
| Port | 5060 |
| Transport | UDP |
| Registration | ✅ REGISTER for the «Línea SIP» service; «SIP Trunking» has no registration — it uses IP authentication |
| Login | the account from the «Configurador de Dispositivos» section of the customer portal |
| Password | the password from the same place (not used with IP authentication) |
What to set up with the provider: choose the product — «Línea SIP» with registration is simpler, while «SIP Trunking» requires you to hand over the PBX's static address → order the Chilean number and confirm at order time that it terminates on the Latin American node → allow G711a/G711u in your plan, because the platform offers G.729 first → set the «Identificador de llamada», otherwise outgoing calls go out withheld. The incoming number arrives in E.164 without «+».
Pitfalls ⚠️ netelip's Chilean numbering is virtual: emergency calls to 131/132/133 do not work through it and it carries none of a local carrier's obligations. For a venue with a dining room that argues for a Chilean carrier, while netelip is a good option when the company is not registered in Chile.

Convergia#
An international carrier headquartered in Canada; in Chile it holds its own carrier code 112 and is certified by PBX vendor 3CX specifically for Chile — meaning its parameters have been tested against a third-party PBX, not only its own. There is one mode: authentication by address.
What to enter in the admin panel:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| SIP host | the main IP of Convergia's border server from the contract; the PBX does not recognise the backup address («Proxy alternativo») — see the pitfalls |
| Port | 5060 — the standard value, confirm at connection time |
| Transport | UDP; Convergia does not support SIP over TLS at all — which suits us |
| Registration | ⬜ No, IP authentication — a static public address is mandatory |
| Login | not used |
| Password | not used |
What to set up with the provider: hand over the public address of your dedicated PBX → agree that the trunk number is sent in national format (9 digits, without +56) → ask for G.711 → if you need to display a number outside the contract, request the «Clip No Screening» feature separately: by default the carrier only passes its own numbers.
Pitfalls ⚠️ Convergia gives two addresses, a main and a backup one. The PBX identifies incoming calls by one SIP host per trunk, so a call arriving from the backup address will be rejected. Either ask the carrier to call from the main address only, or create a second trunk with the same set of lines.

Gtd#
The Gtd group (the Telsur and Manquehue brands, carrier code 122) is the only Chilean carrier that publicly names its trunk connection models. The «Troncal SIP por Internet» product is sold explicitly under a BYOC banner: the carrier provides numbering or ports yours, and you bring your own voice solution. There are two models: «Troncal con Registro», authenticated by digital certificate, and «Troncal Estática», from 1 to 5 trunks tied to an address. Pricing depends on the connection model and the total number of channels.
Gtd does not publish the server address, port or codecs, so there is no field table here — they are issued at connection time; the minimum you need from the account manager is collected in «What to ask the provider». Ask two questions first, because whether the trunk works at all depends on them:
- «Does Troncal Estática accept plain SIP over UDP or TCP, without TLS?» The service description names «industry standards such as TLS 1.2 and 1.3» as a condition of integration. The PBX does not support trunks over TLS — if Gtd's internet trunk is TLS only, it cannot be used.
- «Which codecs, is
G.711 a-lawavailable?»
Pitfalls ⚠️ «Authentication by digital certificate» in the «con Registro» model is not the registration the PBX supports: ours is an ordinary login and password. So of Gtd's two models only «Troncal Estática», tied to your static address, is suitable.

Netvoiss#
A local ITSP from Santiago: cloud PBX, 600 and 800 numbering, short 4-digit numbers, porting — and a separate «SIP TRUNK IP» product «for companies that need to keep their physical PBX», with up to 300 simultaneous channels and declared compatibility with Asterisk, Issabel, FreePBX, 3CX and Yeastar. It is valuable for two things: a public price and a public codec list — «Codecs soportados: G729, G711a», and the PBX understands G.711 a-law.
Netvoiss does not publish the server address or the authentication mode — they arrive with the connection e-mail, so there is no field table here. When ordering, ask for G711a first in the list, choose a plan by channel count and clarify the incoming number format; if the trunk turns out to work by address, hand over the static IP of the dedicated PBX.
Pitfalls ⚠️ The entry-level «SIP TRUNK IP EMPRESAS» plan costs 16,990 CLP a month for 5 channels, 1 number and 300 domestic minutes, but the contract runs for 12 months: for a pilot at a single venue that is a year-long commitment. And the advertised 300 channels are the platform's capability, not the cheap plan's.

Providers whose parameters come with the contract#
Movistar, ClaroVTR, Central IP / Alodesk, FonoIP, net2phone Chile, Telxi, Call IP, IFX Networks
These providers do have (or advertise) a trunk for your own PBX, but the server address, port, authentication mode and credentials arrive by e-mail after the contract. The minimum to get from the account manager is «What to ask the provider»; raise G.711 a-law separately, and make clear that a third-party PBX is being connected, not their cloud one.
- Movistar (Telefónica Chile). The business catalogue lists a «Central telefónica IP — Telefonía IP profesional con SIPTrunk» product; the page publishes no technical parameters. One useful detail: Movistar sells a fixed public address separately, through the «Fibra Profesional» (one IP) and «Internet Dedicado» (five) plans. This is also the carrier that published its own explainer on the
600/809prefixes, so it blocks mass campaigns from an ordinary number by regulation. - ClaroVTR Empresas. Claro Chile and VTR have merged into ClaroVTR; the «Claro Empresas» catalogue has a Voz → Telefonía Local section, but there is no separate public SIP trunk page in Chile — unlike neighbouring markets where Claro names the product outright («Telefonía Troncal SIP» in Peru, «Troncales SIP» in Colombia). It is reasonable to assume the service is sold through a manager. Ask separately whether the trunk is sold over any internet link: in the region Claro often provides it only together with its own connectivity.
- Central IP / Alodesk. A Chilean cloud PBX (the same platform under the
troncalsip.cldomain) selling «Línea Troncal SIP» with declared compatibility with Asterisk, Elastix, FreePBX and Trixbox, servers in Chile and numbers from any Chilean or foreign location. The product is called a «cuenta SIP», so it is most likely ordinary registration — but confirm that in writing: there are no parameters on any of their pages, and both are dated 2018. - FonoIP. A Chilean carrier with its own numbering, porting and direct access to the public network; «Troncal SIP» is described as a bridge between your IP PBX and the public telephone network that «integrates with any IP PBX on the market». The service description mentions «voice encryption» — check before paying whether that means mandatory TLS/SRTP: the PBX does not support it.
- net2phone Chile. The local arm of the international net2phone (IDT), with an office in Santiago and a support portal: local and international numbering, compatibility «with most IP PBXs and gateways», and unlimited calling to 30+ countries on some plans. Word your request as «SIP Trunk para PBX propia (Asterisk)», otherwise you will be sold a cloud PBX. Clarify their media port range — the PBX receives media on UDP 10000–20000.
- Telxi. An international provider, also certified by 3CX for Chile: a self-service portal with online sign-up, the trunk number entered in E.164 (for example
561234567890), SIP over TLS supported although we do not need it, and fax over T.38. The 3CX card does not state the authentication mode, so ask when ordering. Note that E.164 versus the local carriers' national 9 digits is the same number in two different shapes inside routing rules. - Call IP. A Chilean ITSP with virtual numbers and a configurable channel count. It will not work with our PBX: its site states plainly that its trunks («troncales») are built on the
G.729codec, while the PBX speaks onlyG.711andG.722— there will be no common codec and therefore no audio. One option remains: ask before paying whether they will enableG.711 a-lawon your account. - IFX Networks Chile. A regional carrier and internet provider with an office in Las Condes: publicly managed networks, UCaaS and contact centre, but not «a SIP trunk for someone else's PBX». It is worth asking the manager whether a «troncal SIP» is sold separately from their UCaaS if the venue's link is already theirs; UCaaS suppliers may have no outbound trunk at all.
International providers with Chilean numbers#
Chilean local numbers are sold by Twilio, Telnyx and DIDWW; the Telnyx and Twilio cards are already in the catalogue when adding a provider — the server address and mode fill themselves in. There is no Chilean specificity in their parameters, but there is plenty in their paperwork and in what such a number can do:
- Twilio has the strictest checks. A Chilean number requires a Chilean address with proof (an ID showing the address, a utility bill, a tax notice, a lease or a title deed) plus an identity document, and for a company its registration details. Separately, the carrier warns that anonymous calls and forwarding to international destinations are prohibited by regulation, and that since August 2025 only numbers in the
+56600and+56809series are allowed for automated and mass communications. - Telnyx is more relaxed about the address. Local numbers require a name and a copy of an identity document (for a company, the details of an authorised representative), while national and shared-cost numbers additionally require a RUT and a certificate of incorporation; the address may be anywhere in the world, Chilean residency is not required. That makes it the shortest route for a foreign company — at the cost of the number not being «truly local».
- DIDWW sells Chilean local numbers through its portal and API and supports both modes — registration and authentication by address.
- netelip, Convergia and Telxi are international too, but with Chilean specifics; they are covered by the cards above.
- What an international number cannot do. Emergency calls to
131/132/133do not work through it, and it does not solve the prefix question for600/809: a mass campaign needs local numbering from the right series.
Porting a number#
- Portability works across the whole network — fixed, mobile and VoIP numbers; the basis is law 20.471, and the process is run by the Organismo Administrador de la Portabilidad.
- Timing for a fixed number depends on the installation: once the carrier reports the installation complete, the number ports on the next working day; for porting purposes, every day from Monday to Saturday except public holidays counts as a working day.
- Since 03.02.2025 the conditions are stricter: the bill for the ported service must be paid, and the same number cannot be ported again for 120 days.
- The gaining carrier files the request on your behalf; nothing needs to be filed with the losing one. Gtd, Netvoiss and FonoIP advertise porting as part of the service.
- ⚠️ A number registered to an individual (a personal RUT) will need to be re-registered when moved to a company — allow a week, not a day.
- ⚠️ Changing the PBX's public address breaks a trunk that authenticates by IP (Entel, Convergia, Gtd's «Troncal Estática»): when the dedicated machine is recreated, give the provider the new address in advance.
Rules and paperwork#
Licence, contract and RUT, the 600 and 809 prefixes, marketing calls, call recording, caller ID
- The venue needs no licence. Under law 18.168 a concession for public telephone service is required by whoever sells telecommunications; you are buying it. The licensed party is the Chilean carrier you take the number and trunk from. Numbering is allocated by the regulator, SUBTEL.
- The contract goes to a Chilean company with a RUT. That is a condition at every local carrier and ITSP. With the corporate ones (Entel, Movistar, ClaroVTR, Gtd) the path runs through an account manager and a link survey — weeks, not days. A foreign company without a local entity is left with an international number (see the section above).
- The 600 and 809 prefixes are a Chilean specific. Since 13 August 2025 commercial and mass calls must originate from a number in the
600series (solicited, or from a company you have a contract with) or809(unsolicited); sanctions range from a warning to a fine of 5–5,000 UTM. The rules were revised in 2026: out-of-court debt collection was taken out of the prefix regime,600was left for mass solicited informational calls, and a702block is introduced for government bodies from March 2027. In practice: an ordinary call to a guest is unaffected, while for a mass campaign the «Display as» field must carry a number from the appropriate series — Netvoiss, for instance, sells600and800numbers. - Marketing calls. Under consumer protection law 19.496 a subscriber may demand that marketing calls stop, and after that they are prohibited. Fixed-line subscriber data is public unless the NPNI service («No Publicar No Informar») has been ordered; passing mobile subscribers' data to other companies is prohibited by law 19.628. The industry «No Molestar» register is run by ChileTelcos and is referenced by the consumer protection agency SERNAC.
- Calling hours. For debt collection calls the regime is «Monday to Saturday, 08:00–20:00»; Sundays and public holidays are off limits, there is a weekly contact limit, and disclosing the debt to relatives, neighbours or the employer is prohibited.
- Call recording. Chile has no separate «telephone» permission — law 19.628 on privacy applies, together with the general rule of informed consent. The practice is a notice at the start of the call; in the admin panel it is switched on in the location settings.
- You may only display your own numbers. Carriers accept only numbers from the group issued to you in outgoing calls, and anonymous calls and forwarding to international destinations are prohibited by regulation. A foreign number in the «Display as» field will either be replaced by the carrier's own or cause the call to be rejected.
If it does not work#
- The Entel trunk does not come up, or shows «not registered». Entel has no registration at all: clear the REGISTER checkbox and make sure the carrier has added your PBX address to its allow-list. The trunk row then reads «registration not required (IP-auth)», and the path to the server can be checked with the «Test connection» button.
- The call goes through but there is silence one way or both. Almost always the codecs: in Chile
G.729comes first at Entel, Netvoiss and netelip alike, and Call IP builds its entire trunk on it. Ask forG.711 a-lawto be placed first. - An incoming call arrived but matched no line. Either the carrier is sending a 3–4 digit DDI (Entel's option), in which case the number does not arrive at all, or two of your numbers share their last seven digits. See «Numbers in the country».
- The provider demands TLS or a certificate. That may be the case with Gtd's «con Registro» model and possibly with FonoIP and its «voice encryption». The PBX does not support trunks over TLS: take the model authenticated by address, or another provider.
- Some incoming calls are lost at Convergia. The carrier has two addresses while a trunk identifies incoming calls by a single SIP host: calls from the backup address are rejected. Ask them to call from the main address only, or create a second trunk.
- International outbound calls do not go out. From Chile you dial abroad through a carrier code (
1YZ0+ number), not00: add the required prefix to the outbound rule or ask the carrier to route such calls itself. - Mass calls are rejected or generate complaints. Check which number they originate from: for mass and commercial campaigns it must be a number in the
600or809series. - It worked and then stopped after the PBX was recreated. Entel, Convergia and Gtd's «Troncal Estática» authenticate by address — the new address has to be given to the provider.
- No number is shown on outgoing calls. At netelip outgoing calls go out withheld until the «Identificador de llamada» is set in the customer portal.
Causes that do not depend on the country are in «If calls do not go through»; network and codec requirements are in «Network and compatibility».
Frequently asked questions#
Which provider should I start with if I have no number yet?#
If the venue has a Chilean legal entity and time for corporate sales — Entel: it is the only local carrier whose trunk parameters are known in advance, and its mode is exactly ours, authentication by address. If you need to be up and running within a week — Netvoiss with its public plan, or Central IP. If the company is not registered in Chile — netelip, Telnyx or DIDWW.
Why does no Chilean carrier publish a server address on its site?#
That is how the local market works: the trunk is sold through an account manager, and the parameters are e-mailed after the contract and a link survey. It is not a gap in this guide — as of September 2026 there is no public documentation on connecting a third-party PBX in Chile, neither from the carriers nor from most ITSPs. That is why the list in «What to ask the provider» is especially useful in this country.
Can I set up a Chilean trunk without a dedicated PBX?#
No. Provider trunks only work on a dedicated server: it needs the static address that is given to the provider. For Entel, Convergia and Gtd's «Troncal Estática» that is the only mode there is — the address is all they check.
Does the venue need a telecommunications licence?#
No. The concession under law 18.168 is needed by whoever sells telecommunications; you buy it from a licensed Chilean carrier. What every local provider does require is a contract with a Chilean company holding a RUT.
What are the 600 and 809 prefixes — do they apply to a restaurant?#
An ordinary call to a guest, no. The rules cover mass and commercial calls: since 13 August 2025 they must originate from a number in the 600 (solicited) or 809 (unsolicited) series, with fines from 5 to 5,000 UTM. If you plan to call through your guest database with an offer, such a number has to be ordered separately — Netvoiss, for example, sells them.
How do I call abroad from a Chilean PBX?#
Through a carrier code: in Chile an international call is dialled as 1YZ0 + the number, where 1YZ is your carrier's code (123 Entel, 171 Claro, 122 Gtd). Either add the prefix to the outbound rule, or agree with the carrier that it routes international calls itself.
Will emergency calls work?#
Through a Chilean carrier's number, yes — 131, 132 and 133 are dialled as usual. Through an international number (Twilio, Telnyx, DIDWW, a virtual netelip number), no. For a venue with a dining room that argues for a local carrier and for keeping a phone with an ordinary SIM card at the counter.
